Deconstructing School magazines


This school magazine is exciting and informative because it has a range of different colours, such as red, blue, white etc. The school logo is bold and in capital letters so that it stands out at the reader. Even though the name of the logo is not in full sentences it is easy enough to remember, FFH. The font from this magazine is a range of big and small writing. The smaller text is also important but that is not what is going to address the reader, the short snappy words are. Some of the smaller text has what is in the magazine; this is good because it is small. People who are interested in the magazine will care about what is in it. The colours in this magazine are really inviting and make the reader interested in what they are looking at. Because this school has been adventurous/safe in their colours it works well to get a good view. The blue sky is clear and the image is sunny which makes the picture stand out. The magazine is not cluttered and doesn’t throw words at your face. Because this is a school magazine, people who either attend or are interested in the school will read this magazine and will know what this magazine is about and will be interested about the new news. Overall this magazine is very eye catching and intrigues the reader into it.



 
















 



This school magazine is not as exciting as the other one because it is plain and simple. Sometimes doing a magazine plain and simple is good and it makes something look more professional but in this case it doesn’t. The colour of the magazine is in purple and is a safe colour to use. The images are interesting because you can see the different activities that the school takes part in and you can see that the school like to get involved into as many projects as they can. Even though the pictures are interesting there is not information on the magazine which makes the reader wonder what this about. Sure, they can open the page and see but the front cover but it should tell the readers what it is about and this magazine does not. The title is in capital letters so that it is easy for you to see, as the reader you then think that was the name of the school. The layout of the magazine is in blocks and it doesn’t seem that it took a long time to finish the magazine. Overall this is a poor example of a magazine and doesn’t intrigue the reader into reading it. I believe that the only people that would read it would be members of the school or parents.
